Conclusion
We thank Lennox et al. (2013) for allowing us to re-emphasise our ideas. We find that none of the points raised by Lennox et al. (2013) indicates shortcoming in our interpretation or provides any new evidence against the presence of the Manning and Hastings oroclines.
We look forward to publication of their structural data, accumulated over the last 20 years, and their model for the development of the southern part of the New England Orogen and its conversion from a convergent margin setting into a convoluted, megafolded orogenic belt.
