Journal of the Virtual Explorer

A dynamic review electronic Earth Science journal publishing material from all continents

2010 Issues

Volume 35 » The Science of Microstructure

2010 marks the tenth anniversary of the Means Volume, the first online publication of a significant microstructural work that took full advantage of the electronic medium. The Science of Microstructures will similarly teach and inspire, leading the reader to the cutting edge of microstructural research.

Intending authors should immediately contact one of the editors with a title and list of contributors.

Papers focus on the importance of microstructure for answering geological questions in any setting, including e.g., microstructures of metamorphism, migmatisation and anatexis.

Volume 36 » The Geology of Italy

Italy is home to a great variety of geological environments.

In this 10th Anniversary Volume of the Journal of the Virtual Explorer we celebrate this diversity, by providing an up-to-date account of the geological evolution of Italy through time, with review papers from the fields of tectonics, petrology, volcanology, structural geology, geochronology, stratigraphy, sedimentology and palaeontology.

Volume 37 » A field guide across the margins of Alpine Tethys

Authored By: Gianreto Manatschal

This field guide describes outcrops that are critical for the evolution of new concepts on extreme crustal thinning, mantle exhumation, continental breakup and initial seafloor spreading.

Volume 38 » General Contributions

General Contributions submitted to the journal for publication in 2010.

The Editors invite contributions that do not pertain to special issues. In particular, we seek papers that use the benefits of electronic medium in conveying geoscience concepts via visualizations, simulations and animations. For author instructions and reviewing policies, see http://www.virtualexplorer.com.au/pages/publish/.
